"Curiosity is the lust of the mind" -Thomas Hobbes
The unwillingness to settle. The inability to be content; by or without choice. Thomas Hobbes saw the subconscious selfishness of mankind and in return gave man a solution: democracy. It was the only way to control the evil dwelling amongst man's deepest wishes whilst simultaneously sating their thirst for power and supremacy. While he saw faults embedded within his very solution, Hobbes knew it was the best way to keep the people safe from themselves all the while allowing them to have some sense of control and freedom within their system. He believed in the "voice of the people" which gave each and every individual the opportunity for their God given opinions to be heard, while constricting them to the safety and security of a singular leviathan, or leader, to be the output of their seemingly innocent vices. Through the years, this form of government, as Hobbes predicted, has proven sufficient in satisfying our forever desires of dominance while it contemporaneously asserts a similar authority over us in return.
