One time, I had to choose between sacrificing my Wednesday's and every other weekend over time I could have spent on school work or with my friends. I chose to earn $100 for my Youth Technology Coach volunteer program as opposed to other, possibly more fun opportunities. This was the first real, honest money I had ever made on my own without earning it from my parents via chores or household duties. It also wasn't much considering that I was sacrificing about 3-4 hours each day I went in; which lasted about 3 months, but I still chose to do it. In the long run I'm glad I made the decision because it looks really good on job applications.
I assume that in the future I will have to make similar decisions when dealing with jobs and other "real" world problems. I'm always going to want to be lazy and have a good time with my friends, but that kind of attitude can't be relied on to get things done.
